During the 1980s Corgi books published re-issues of the original James Blish Star Trek stories, which featured tales from the long running television series. Chris Moore tackled the covers; creating masterpieces which focused on the Starship Enterprise in moody color schemes.
The way that Moore uses color emphasizes the bleakness of space and the loneliness of the starship, which makes the exploration inherent in the stories all the more adventurous. I love the way that the illustrations frame the collections as more serious and dangerous and less campy than we might have read the settings previously.
